MACHIN:

The word, Machin , comes to us from the name of the individual that designed the portrait of the Queen. Arnold Machin was the creator of the bust that was used as a model for the stamp that we now refer to as the machin.

Machin (pronounced - Maychin). The emphasis is on the first syllable,

The machins are divided into two groups. The predecimal period from 1967 - 1971, and the decimal period from 1971 to the current. For those of you using the Scott Catalog, remember that the editors of Scott always use the cheapest variety.
